‘Late Afternoon’ nominated for an Oscar 2019 !

Gorilla Post is thrilled that ‘Late Afternoon’, a short film produced and directed by Cartoon Saloon, has received an Oscar nomination !

Directed by Louise Bagnall and produced by Nuria Blanco, ‘Late Afternoon’ tells the moving story of a mother, who after a long illness, regains her memory and reconnects with her daughter, who is also her day-to-day caregiver.

Gorilla Post provided the voice records, sound design, mix and picture post on the film. We are all extremely excited for Louise and Nuria and wish them – and our friends at Cartoon Saloon – the very best at the Oscars next month!

Winners at The Irish Animation Awards 2021!

We are thrilled to announce that Gorilla Post was the winner of “Best Sound Design” at this year’s (virtual) IAA Awards! Produced by Pink Kong Studios, the sound design and mix on animated short ‘The Dead Hands of Dublin’ was carried out by our wonderfully talented Francisco Rios and Mark Fitzpatrick. ‘The Dead Hands of Dublin’ also won “Best Sound” at The British Animation Film Festival earlier this month, plus “Best Sound” at the Independent Horror Film Festival last month! We couldn’t be more delighted with the success of this project.

This year’s IAA was a special one for Gorilla Post as we were also nominated for “Best Sound Design” on ‘Dorg Van Dango’, the animated series produced by Cartoon Saloon and Wildbrain now airing on Nickelodeon. ‘Dorg’ was another fantastic project we worked on over the past 2 years. Congrats to our sound designer Shane O’Toole for the nomination who did an amazing job for a challenging genre (comedy-action, 9-12 yr olds).

Congrats to all winners and nominees this year in what has been a difficult 12 months for everyone. Let’s hope normal service can resume for the next awards in 2023 where we can all get together again in person to celebrate the continued success of the industry. Huge thanks and kudos to the organisers, Animation Ireland, for going ahead with the event this year and doing such a great job in the circumstances.

1 year on…

September 17th 2015

Hello there !

Can’t believe it’s almost a year since we moved into our new offices here in Merrion Square. Probably one of the fastest years we’ve had and luckily our busiest too!

During that time I’m delighted to have online editor and colourist Oleg Jitov join us, who has made a huge contribution to our team. Oleg’s credits are very impressive having spent almost 20 years working in the industry. We have him grading lots of factual, lifestyle and entertainment shows to keep him busy !

In animation we’ve yet again had the pleasure of working with our uber-talented colleagues at Cartoon Saloon on the 2nd season of Puffin Rock, which was recently acquired by Netflix! Pretty amazing year for the “Salooners” given they were also nominated for best animated feature at this years Oscars for Song Of The Sea !

We recently completed all 26 episodes of the 2nd series of Wildernuts too for our equally talented chums at Kavaleer, who go into production with their upcoming new series Kiva Can Do very soon. Can’t wait for that. Voice records, sound design, mix and online editing all happening here at Gorilla.

So far so good on the commercials front too with plenty of campaigns throughout the year for the likes of Jaguar, Bank of Ireland, Ulster Bank, Red Bull, Failte Ireland and Fruice, to name just a few. Most recently we completed the sound design and mix for An Post’s new TV campaign, “A Journey of Things,” which is now airing regularly on RTE and Sky. So we’ve generally had lots of creative agencies and production companies walk through our doors over the past while. Big shout out to H2 Films, Motherland, Rothco, Publicis, In The Company Of Huskies, Target Mc Connells, Caboom and Jumper Productions !

Not surprisingly for this time of year TV broadcast has really revved up a notch in the last month or two as well. As I write this we’re currently working on some great new shows such as Crumlin, A Week To My Wedding, Hardy Bucks, Nurses, Fir Bolg, and Entrepreneur Of The Year. When it rains it pours ! We look forward to another series of The Mario Rosenstock Show in December as well plus a 1 hour special of Thank GAA It’s Friday for Loosehorse. We’ll be doing the offline, online, grade and mix.

Thanks for reading this blog and we look forward to working with you all soon!

Cheers,

Barry
